Our Mission

Delta Chinatown Initiative’s mission is to ensure the residents, businesses and visitors of San Francisco’s Chinatown are safe and thriving.

Our Work

To combat the rise of hate crimes in the AAPI community, Delta Chinatown Initiative was formed to deter crime, support law enforcement, hold law enforcement accountable, and to ensure the rights of victims are protected. We continue to be a voice in the community to advocate for public safety.

Additionally, we are supporting the most vulnerable populations in San Francisco — families living in Chinatown's single room occupancies (SROs) with a specific emphasis on the children growing up in these cramped environments. We believe the safety and well-being of its residents, businesses, and visitors are critical to enabling the economic revitalization of San Francisco's Chinatown.

Security Cameras

We believe public safety for Chinatown's residents, businesses, and visitors are critical to enabling economic recovery.

Phase 1: A network of security cameras were installed in 2021 at the most trafficked corridors through a collaboration with Chinatown Merchants Association and SF Safe.

Phase 2: We installed a second network of security cameras on side streets and alleyways in 2022.

Please join us in supporting public safety in Chinatown with a donation.

There are over 300 families living in SROs in Chinatown, and we don't believe this is acceptable.

Prior to the pandemic, 75% of families living in SROs were employed. They are hard working contributors to the economy, predominantly in the hospitality and service industry as cooks, servers, housekeepers, janitors and retail workers. Their livelihoods were decimated by COVID-19, and their economic vulnerabilities compounded.

SRO Families are an invisible community, and we are raising awareness and advocating for support for these families to transition into better living conditions for the children.

Victims Rights Awareness

We advocate for infrastructural changes for victims of crimes. We aim to ensure that all victims of crimes are aware of their rights, and have access to in-language resources; along with law enforcement accountability.

Most people are not prepared to be victims of crimes. As we see the rise of assaults against the API community, we want victims to feel empowered to report crimes, be fully aware and engaged in the legal process, and receive the types of wrap around services they are entitled to as victims.

We push for culturally competent, and in-language resources from victims services throughout government agencies; and a law enforcement system that is transparent and accountable.
