Welcome to The Mahjong Movement

The Mahjong Movement was born from a few goals:

  1. Create events to help revitalize Chinatown

  2. Create a space to interact with Asian seniors

  3. Bring people together to share culture

Games and sports are the ultimate human unifier - bringing people of all walks of life together to the same table, literally. No game is more representative of Chinese American culture than Mahjong. Mahjong’s popularity is actually one of Chinese American roots, forged during the 1950s and 1960s with the rise of suburbanization.

In celebration of Chinese American culture, to revive Chinatown and to bring people of all cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds to common ground, we invite you to join us in events that will be inclusive of Chinatown’s residents, players and fans of Mahjong, and spectators of the game together. Join The Mahjong Movement!
